How you prnounce...
While I read Death Note manga I always read L as pronouncing of Lee in spide of Eru (Jap), El (Eng) or Le (Turkish) :P how you read it?

I read L as, well... El. Although the Japanese would read L as Eru :thumb since they equate L to R. Japanese don't have an actual 'L' both in articulation and in the basic writing system (Hiragana). They also write characters by syllalble, except for a few -- vowels, n, etc -- so L would be written as a vowel (E) + syllable (ru). Hence, it is read as Eru and not Er. Or so I think :P

I tried to read L as El but it sounded strange to me same with Turkish prnouncing of L letter (L: le - read as the 'le' part in 'let' word). Even if I tried to read it Eru I always ended going back to Lee :P

That's interesting. It's not bad either since it just all depends on where you're comfortable. Come to think of it, the older version of my mother tongue would pronounce L as 'la' but I prefer the modern 'el'.

I like to write Light's Japanese pronounce Raito too but people make me angry saying it's Light not Raito or who/what is Raito *sigh* I also found it strange having Light as a name in English although Turkish word for light (Işık - I don't know if you can see the letters here but it's something like this in Eng alphabet Ishik) is a common name mostly for girls. also there is Nur which also means light (Holy light) and used as female name. However lately I began to get used to Light as a name. I think it is a nice name.

I sometimes get confused over Light/Raito but I generally think it is a nice name. I think Zuul over at NF once said that the French Lelouch (Code Geass) was weird for a name. I can't remember what it means though.

I found this from a site for his name: Lelouch would be equal to say "The suspicious one/suspect" in obvious reference of his position as Zero, the unidentified rebel that stands against the Empire. Therefore, it is again composed by two French words: Le: article -the- Louche: spelled minus the final mute "e", equivalent to -suspicious- Though there's another translation of the last word, ladle. Yes exactly as the kitchen utensil, since it doesn't have a direct sense and meaning, I usually go for the first translation which hit me the first time I heard of Lelouch. I watched the first season of this but didn't continue to second one. I find what he was trying to do was smiliar to Light's. the way he kills etc. also it reminded me another serie but don't remember what was it now :P
